Surrender and Rehoming
Consider Other Options Before Pet Surrender
Before Shur Rescue accepts a cat for rehoming we ask, “Could there be a way for you and your cat to stay together?” For pet owners demonstrating financial need, the Wisconsin Humane Society Pet Food Pantry gives away pet food and kitty litter. For pet owners who are moving, Wisconsin has numerous pet-friendly apartments to rent. When surrender and rehoming is the only option in Shawano County, Wisconsin, contact Shur Rescue. Shur Rescue of Cecil, Wisconsin accepts surrendered cats and kittens and strives to find the animals new, permanent homes.

Make an Appointment for Surrendering a Cat
Before surrendering a cat to our animal shelter, please call for an appointment. Even an emergency drop-off can be called in on the way. Our shelter is open seven days a week by appointment only. Shur Rescue cannot jeopardize the safety or health of its resident cats by accepting a surrendered animal without evaluating it first. We don’t charge a fee for surrendering but donations are accepted whether it be necessities or monetarily. We are always in need of supplies. See our Donations page for specific items that we constantly need replenished.
Tell Us About the Cat in Need of Rehoming
Anyone who surrenders a cat or kitten to Shur Rescue is asked to provide as much background information as possible about the animal. By knowing a cat’s history, Shur Rescue can acclimate the cat to the animal shelter at a pace that suits its personality. Additionally, we use the background information in our efforts to rehome the cat to a loving owner.
