Cat Foster
Animal Fostering Program
In addition to its cat adoption program, Shur Rescue also runs a cat foster program. If cats aren’t thriving at our animal shelter, foster families offer a wonderful alternative. We place cats and kittens in temporary foster homes until we can find permanent homes for the animals. Shur Rescue provides the cat food, kitty litter, veterinary care and other necessities for the cat foster families. Foster parents welcome the pet into their homes and provide love, training and care. With the help of foster homes, Shur Rescue can rescue and care for more animals that are lost, abandoned or surrendered.

Become a Cat Foster Family
Not ready to make the long-term commitment necessary for a pet adoption? Consider fostering a cat or a litter of kittens. Cat foster families provide a temporary home and one-on-one attention that some cats and kittens require. Cats that are sick or injured often need a quiet place to heal and rest. When the cats are strong and healthy again they can be placed up for adoption. Foster families bridge the gap as the cats recover. For a young litter of kittens, foster families provide a stable home as they care for the momma cat and her little kittens that aren’t old enough to be adopted. Generally, foster families care for kittens for two weeks to two months depending on the age of the kittens when they join the foster family.
