Join the family of volunteers at Shur Rescue in Cecil, Wisconsin. Volunteers help our animal shelter thrive! Please consider giving your time – and your heart – to the shelter for cats and kittens who are lost, abandoned or surrendered. Help us ensure the safety and well-being of all cats whether feral or domesticated at our no kill animal shelter. Shur Rescue seeks animal lovers who are trustworthy, caring and dependable to apply to volunteer at the shelter. We have plenty of opportunities for you to help out. Shur Rescue is open seven days a week as early as 6 a.m. so volunteers can choose a block of time that works best for their schedules.

Community Service Requirements

Whether you need to fulfill court-ordered community service hours, school community service requirements or just want to help out, Shur Rescue has immediate volunteer opportunities available. To apply as a volunteer simply fill out the volunteer application. A Shur Rescue representative will contact you to schedule an interview and potentially begin the onboarding process.

Animal Shelter Volunteer Tasks

Volunteers at Shur Rescue assist with a variety of tasks at our animal shelter:

Play with and socialize with the cats – A favorite for any animal lover!
Clean the shelter cages and rooms – Help us maintain a healthy environment
Take adoption photos of cats – We want each shelter cat to find a forever home
Participate in fundraising campaigns – We are privately owned with no outside funding
Assist with and prepare cats for veterinary care – A healthy cat is a happy cat

Volunteer Requirements

We welcome volunteers from all walks of life. No experience is necessary! Shur Rescue will onboard and train volunteers before they start assisting with the cats at the animal shelter.

Volunteers at the animal shelter must:

Enjoy being around cats and kittens
Follow the animal shelter’s rules and policies
Be at least 16 years old or be accompanied by an adult
Fill out an application and be interviewed by our team
Attend an initial onboarding meeting & follow-up training as required
Commit to volunteering 2 hours or more per week
Fulfill the assigned volunteer tasks competently and independently
